Mixing is more art than science. Knowing how to mix a variety of genres gives you the versatility to tackle all sorts of musical challenges. In our first mix course we covered the fundamentals of mixing and how pros approach them. In this advanced course we'll look in more depth at how pros mix real songs in multiple genres, including rock, Hip-Hop, pop, and cinematic/orchestral styles, and pull out lessons you can apply to any music.

This is a six-week mix bootcamp. Each week, you'll encounter a new genre with new challenges. You'll learn how to properly structure mixes, practice your existing skills, and learn advanced, genre-specific tools and techniques for making better mixes. Plus, if you sign up for one of our mentor-guided sessions, you'll get weekly mix advice and support from a real live Soundfly Mentor.

If you're looking for more mixing basics, check out the first course in this series: Faders Up I: Modern Mix Techniques.

We'll be demoing in Logic Pro X throughout this course, but with references to other DAWs from time to time.

How long does this course take?

This course was designed to be completed in roughly six weeks, assuming students would have a few hours a week to spend on it. That said, that timeline is just a casual recommendation — you can choose to blow through it all in one sitting or take a year with it, if you'd like.

Is there a specific start date?

You can start the course anytime. If you'd like more accountability and guided feedback from a professional, you can request to work through the course and your own goals with a Soundfly Mentor for four or six weeks, and get a more personalized experience for a specific period of time.
