Patrick is a composer, singer-songwriter, bluegrass banjo player, pianist, and sound designer. He grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, studying piano and writing music from the age of 11 onward. Patrick co-founded the music, culture, and science analysis website The Patterning (home to his viral 2016 music theory article "The Millennial Whoop"), as well as The Next Mix, which creates thematic playlists, and he is currently Director of Product at Idealist.org.
His music has been featured in film, theatre, and dance productions in New York City and beyond. Through his undergraduate studies at Sarah Lawrence College, he gained a strong foundation in composition, music theory, and ethnomusicology. Since that time, his work has taken him all the way from touring with tree-dancing hippies to his music being performed at Carnegie Hall. Patrick has a passion for diagnosing and analyzing film score composition and sound treatment, and can help you bring more emotion to the screen with your music.
Patrick owes a great debt of gratitude to all of the patient teachers who have supported him along the way. He's excited for the opportunity to give back through mentoring with Soundfly, and to help students fulfill their creative dreams.
